Celebrated L.A. wordsmith Blu is back with Afrika, a new album entirely produced by iconic Virginia producer Nottz. Bolstered by pounding drums and heavy basslines, the collection is Blu‘s most politically-charged release to date, with fiery verses steeped in historical insight and Pan-African ideals. “The story of Afrika is so unfathomably dominant in history, yet so unknown to people of the world today, so it was a must that I tell its story myself,” Blu explains. A follow up to the duo’s 2018 classic Gods In The Spirit,Titans In The Flesh, the album is now available worldwide on digitial outlets, CD, and limited-edition colored vinyl.
With Swahili song titles and thunderous beats from Nottz, Afrika finds Blu proudly embracing his roots, connecting black struggles in the U.S. to those of African peoples worldwide. This powerful message is reinforced by a legion of talented guests, as the project features appearances by Quelle Chris, Mickey Factz, Ill Camille, Shafiq Husayn,Shad,Cashus King,Scienze, Tristate, and more
